A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Book 2

Good Girl, Bad Blood

Hey everyone! I have recently finished reading book 2 of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series – Good Girl, Bad Blood – and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.

Introduction

I have literally just finished reading the second book of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – in about 5 hours – and it was AMAZING! This is one of the most adrenaline-filled, exciting and thrilling books I’ve ever read. I could not put the book down at all.

What Is The Book About?

The second book of the AGGGTM series – Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson – shows Pip’s life after solving her first case, the murders of Andie Bell and Sal Singh. After the events of the first book, Pip is struggling to forget everything that has happened and the secrets she uncovered in her small town. Pip can never go back to being the girl she was before.

She started a true crime podcast, retelling the story of the Andie Bell and Sal Singh case, providing both of them with the justice they deserved. It went viral, making her extremely popular. However, she says that her detective days are over and she will not solve another case, fearing that she may hurt someone again.

When Jamie Reynolds – Pip’s best friend’s brother – goes missing, she will have to go back to being the detective she was. The police refuse to do anything about it, so Conner Reynolds, Ravi Singh and Pip decide to take matters into their own hands and set out to investigate what happened to Jamie. This time, she has promised she will not go overboard and lose herself in the case again, afraid that  someone will get hurt. In this book, she uncovers the dark secrets that have been buried in the town of Little Kilton, pulling at all the threads to find Jamie.

Why Did I Like This Book?

o, why did I really like this book? Firstly, OMG the plot of the story is SO GOOD. One lead gives way to another and suddenly, another clue pops up out of nowhere. One twist after another. I really like the way Holly Jackson tells the story of the investigation. The main reason why I don’t really like crime or mystery books is because the story is a little hard to follow. But, in this book, she uses various forms of giving clues, like interviews or social media comments. And of course, we have the wondrous heroine Pippa Fitz-Amobi, the heart of this story. She is a smart, humorous, and loving girl. Have I mentioned she is extremely smart? Pip is so relatable and she makes the story worth reading over and over again.Pip summarises her findings each time, talking us through her theories and next steps, literally ranting to us about what she thinks is going on. This helped me follow the story better as I could understand Pip’s thought process.

Secondly, in this book, Pip has shown a lot of the raw emotions that have been welled up inside her. This reminds us of the fact that she is just a teenage girl and is afraid of losing who she is. Maybe, she doesn’t even know who she is. A lot of the vulnerability is very relatable. The rage, helplessness, grief and misery is so strong that it made me tear up.

Even the other characters, like Ravi, were portrayed really well. He is truly an amazing person and a wonderful friend to Pip. He’s charming and funny, but he is also caring and supportive of the people around him, despite the grave loss of his older brother. Ravi and Pip are the perfect duo. Both of them comfort and support each other through all their challenges. Their relationship has really grown and it’s clear to see they work better together.

Everything in this book, the characters, the plot, the little funny incidents that make me smile, and the numerous twists kept me hooked. I absolutely loved this book, and Pip and Ravi. Thank you to Holly Jackson for writing this book. I’m so excited to read the next book. YAY! I recommend this book to those looking for crime, mystery and heart-thumping action. You will literally not be able to put down this book for even 1 second.
