A Good Girl's Guide To Murder
Hey everyone! I have recently finished reading A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.
Introduction
When people started recommending me to read ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’, I thought it isn’t something I would read because I’m more into fantasy. But, this book got me out of a reading slum I was in and I was astonished because I finished this book in 1 day. I absolutely loved this book!
This was one the most unputdownable books I have read. The blurb had me intrigued so I opened the book and did not close it. (Well, I did because I had to do my homework, but then I couldn’t focus so I opened it again) .
What is this book about?
The story is about a girl named Pip Fitz-Amobi who is currently doing her A-levels. For her EPQ project, she decided to investigate a closed murder case. The Andie Bell and Sal Singh case. Everyone in her town knows that 5 years ago, Andie – the most prettiest and popular girl in her school – was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who later committed suicide.
But, Pip doesn’t feel the same way. There must be more to the story. So she starts her investigation, interviewing the people in her town, getting evidence and writing down her findings and theories in her production log. She joins forces with Ravi Singh, the brother of the alleged murderer, Sal. Together, they start to realise that their small town has buried huge secrets.
As she gets closer to finding the truth, she gets threatening notes from an unknown person, warning her to stop. When the threats get worse and the stakes higher, Pip wonders just how far she is willing to go. Will she find out the truth before the unknown person gets her? Or will the story of Andie Bell and Sal Singh go unsaid?
Why Did I Like This Book?
OMG! This book is AMAZING. The way Holly Jackson told the story was impeccable. Through the eyes of a normal teenage girl, an entire murder case was solved. Pip is an amazing girl and an absolute genius. This story was so fun to read not just because of the plot, but because of her. She talked us through her findings and what she thought might have happened. Pip is someone who is so relatable. She is quirky, loving, sweet and insanely smart.
Ravi is another one of my favourite characters. He is charming and loyal. Despite everything he has been through, he is a good-natured and amazing friend. He is determined to help Pip out, to clear his dear brother’s name and restore his family. Pip and Ravi make an amazing team. The character development in this book was incredible. I felt like I have known all of them for a long time, making it feel so real.
Every page of the book made me either smile, cry or stare at it with an open mouth. I said it once and I will say it again. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I wish I could forget the book so I could read it again. I will recommend this book to those looking for some mystery and crime, with the perfect blend of action and humor. I’m definitely going to get the next book ASAP.
